Richmond Fire Department will begin hosting its Seventeenth Citizen's
Fire Academy on February 21, 2012. The academy last a total of ten
weeks with graduation being the last week. Applications are now being

Richmond Fire Department
assisted the Pecan Grove Fire Department on an apartment fire at 2400
Old South Thursday afternoon. Engine 41 cut a hole in the roof, while
Engine 43 assisted Pecan Grove with locating and extinguishing the
fire. No inuries resulted from the incident.

January 10, 2012
Yesterday Richmond
experienced inclement weather and flooding in several areas around
town. Richmond Fire Department received a high volume of calls due to
the high water. The Richmond Fire Department responded to vehicles
underwater with trapped citizens at the under pass on Highway 90A
leading into Rosenberg. Citizens on Wheaton Street and South 3rd Street
also need help with evacuation when water rose to a point where it
entered their residence.

January 5, 2012
At about 6:20am this
morning, The Richmond Fire Department responded to a structure fire at
Sport Marine off of FM 359. The rear warehouse of the property was
fully involved. Engine 43 and Engine 41 were the first units on
location and began to extinguish the fire. The incident scene lasted
throughout the morning. Rosenberg, Fulshear and Pecan Grove Fire
Departments assisted Richmond Fire Department with water supply and
extinguishment of the fire. No one was injured in the incident and the
fire is still under investigation.

December 21, 2011
The Richmond Fire
Department assisted the Northeast Fire Department on a house fire off
of Sugar Cup Court in the Sugar Grove Subdivision. The fire broke out
around 5pm. Engine 43 assisted with the extinguishment of the fire that
consumed the home's bedrooms and most of the attic. No injuries were
reported. The fire is still under investigation by the Fort Bend County
Fire Marshal's Office.

November 16, 2011
The Richmond Fire
Department assisted the Northeast Fire Department on a structure fire
near the intersection of Old Richmond Road and Paul Road early
Wednesday morning. The fire broke out at approximately 3:45am. Engine
43 and Battalion 41 responded to the blaze and assisted with it's
extinguishment. The large amount of fire consumed both a house and a
mobile home, resulting in a defensive fire. Both buildings were a total
loss. There were no injuries and the fire is still under investigation.

The Richmond Fire
Department participated in trench rescue training this week. The
training allows members to enhance their knowledge and improve teamwork
and experience with the Fort Bend County Heavy Rescue Team.
Firefighters from Rosenberg and Missouri City also attended the course.

This evening, the
Richmond Fire Department responded to an abandoned apartment building.
Engine 41 arrived on location to find heavy fire coming from the roof
of the structure. A strong wind made fire control difficult. The fire
became a defensive fire due to the heavy fire load throughout the
building. No injuries occurred during the blaze. The fire is still
under investigation.

 Today,
the Richmond Fire Department visited the Hutchinson Elementary School
to share fire safety tips and actions to take in an event of a fire.
The firefighters also geared up in their fire protective gear and
showed the fire truck to the kids. During the month of October, the
Richmond Fire Department is visiting area schools to visit with
students about fire safety.

 Richmond
Fire Department responded to a house fire in the Long Meadow
Subdivision. Upon arrival there was heavy smoke and fire from the roof
of the residence. The fire was determined to be a defensive fire due
heavy fire throughout the home. The fire was under control within a few
hours of the incident. Stafford, Pecan Grove, and Fulshear Fire
Departments assisted the Richmond Fire Department with the
extinguishment of the blaze. There were no injuries during the
incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Tuesday afternoon, The
Richmond Fire Department arrived on location of four travel trailers
that were burning at All Star Storage on Hwy 90A. Engine 41 was quickly
able to get the fire under control. There were no injuries and the fire
is still under investigation.

The Richmond Fire
Department responded to a grass fire between the 400 and 1000 blocks of
Clay Road. Richmond Fire Department was assisted by five other
departments in containing the blaze.The fire started in the county and
swiftly moved into the City of Richmond. The fire was believed to be
started by children playing with matches.

This afternoon, The
Richmond Fire Department responded to assist the Needville Fire
Department with a large grass fire that started off of Foster School
Road, near Brinkmeyer Road, and was finally contained on the west side
of Baker Road. Wind conditions and the extremely dry ground made the
fire difficult to contain. The cause of the fire is still under
investigation.

The Richmond Fire
Department participated in confined space training with other
departments in Fort Bend County. The training was held at the Fort Bend
Count Fire Field in Richmond. The training allows members to to remain
sharp with tying knots and advance rescue techniques.

The Richmond Fire
Department responded to Fresno for an ammonia leak at the Champion
Technologies off of FM 521. The Richmond Fire Department Haz-Mat Team
as well as the Sugar Land Haz-Mat Team monitored air quality around the
plant and provided back up for a specialized entry team.

The Richmond Fire
Department mutual aided the East Bernard Fire Department, this
afternoon, for a grass fire at the intersection of Hwy 90A and County
Road 273. Richmond Fire Department was one of twelve departments to aid
in the extinguishment of the fire. The fire covered about 100 acres.
Extinguishment was hampered by the very dry ground and swift winds. The
fire took about 4 hours to get under control.

 The
Richmond Fire Department responded with the Rosenberg Fire Department
to a mobile home fire on 3rd Street at about 9pm last night. The home
was fully involved when Engine 41 arrived on location. Engine 41
assisted with extinguishment of the blaze. The cause of the fire is
under investigation.

At around 8pm last
night, the Richmond Fire Department mutual aided the Orchard Fire
Department for a structure fire at the Tavener Gin. Tanker 41 and Tower
43 responded to the fire. Tower 43 assisted with extinguishment, while
Tanker 41 helped with water supply. The fire was contained to the seed
house. No one was injured in the incident. The cause of the fire is
under investigation.

Sunday afternoon,
members took part in a softball game with the YMCA staff. The benefit
was to assist in a backpack drive for children in the community to get
ready for the upcoming school year. The game was entertaining, but the
fire department fell to the YMCA staff 12-10. The benefit and game were
a success and future events are expected to follow.

Richmond Fire Department assisted the Fulshear-Simonton Fire Department
a house fire in the Westheimer Lakes Subdivision. Richmond Engine 43
assisted with fire attack and extinguishment of the fire.

Friday morning, the
Richmond Fire Department responded to a possible drowning in the Brazos
River at around 9:45am. The Richmond Fire Department Dive Team was soon
called to the scene to search the area.With the help of sonar
equipment, the dive team was able to locate the victim and recover the
body at approximately 3pm.

Richmond Fire Department
responded with Thompsons Fire Department to the W.A. Parish Power Plant
to assist their Emergency Response Team with the extinguishment of a
coal tunnel fire. The fire broke out at approximately 2pm. No one was
injured in the incident.

The Richmond Fire
Department, along with the Houston Police Marine Unit, continued the
search for a missing women with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office
and Raleigh, North Carolina Police for a second straight day. The
search continued in Oyster Creek. The Investigation is still on going.

of a missing women. The search took place at Oyster Creek, off of

Fire Department responded to a hotel fire in Stafford. The fire caused
damage to an upstairs unit and the exterior of the building. No one was

house fire at 1019 Alamo St. in Rosenberg. The home was used by various
youth services. Upon arrival, Richmond Fire Department assisted in
extinguishment of the fire. The house suffered extensive heat and smoke
damage. No one was injured in the incident. The fire is still under
investigation.

At about 7pm last night,
Richmond Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire near the Mission
Grove subdivision. Upon arrival, the fire had spread from the vehicle
to a detached garage and car port. No one was injured in the incident.
Richmond Fire Department was assisted with the extinguishment of the
fire by Pecan Grove and Fulshear Fire Departments. Sugar Land and
Rosenberg Fire Departments covered fire stations 1 and 3 during the
incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fort Bend
County Fire Marshal's Office.

Early this morning,
Richmond Fire Department responded with Rosenberg Fire Department to a
house fire in Bridalwood Estates. The fire destroyed the four car
detached garage, as well as spreading through a breeze way, damaging
some of the home's attic. A neighboring home also suffered heat damage
from the flames. Assistance from several surrounding fire departments
was needed to extinguish the fire. The home owner was not home at the
time of the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Yesterday afternoon, the
Richmond Fire Department responded with the Rosenberg Fire Department
to a fire at an town home on Ave P in Rosenberg. Engine 12 assisted
with fire attack while Tower 11
 cut a hole in the roof to remove debris and check for
extension. The blaze was caused by a child playing with a lighter
and setting a palm tree on fire. The damage was contained to one unit.
No injuries were reported due to the fire.

restaurant at Hwy 36 and Hwy 59. The Richmond Fire Department assisted

Last night the Richmond Fire Department responded to a
garage fire at 1803 Mulberry Drive. The blaze was quickly controlled
and confined to the garage. No injuries were reported. The fire
originated from a pile of ashes, from the fireplace, that were disposed
of next to the garage. The Rosenberg Fire Department assisted in
extinguishing the fire.

Late Friday night,
Richmond Firefighters responded to a garage fire in the Long Meadow
Farms subdivision. Firefighters were able to stop the fire from
moving into the house from the garage. Though there was severe
property damage to the garage and its contents, there were no
injuries. At the time of this report, the cause of the fire had
yet to be determined.
